Rules and Etiquette
To get the most out of your game it is important to have a good understanding of the rules and codes of etiquette. This page is mainly intended to provide guidance to newcomers to the game, but it will hopefully also be of interest to more experienced golfers.
The current video clips have been picked up from elsewhere on the Internet, but in time, we hope to be able to provide some of our own based on common situations around the course.
Repairing pitch marks
It is every golfer's responsibility to repair damage made to the green. If a pitch mark isn't repaired immediately and correctly, it can take three weeks or more for the damage to recover.
Check out the video clip on the right, showing the correct way to repair a pitch mark.
Please remember - if we all repaired our own pitch mark and one other on every green, there wouldn't be any.
Etiquette on the green
Following proper etiquette on the green is mainly a matter of common courtesy and awareness.
This video describes how to mark and replace your ball, avoid damaging your fellow golfers' putting line and throws in instruction on correctly repiring a pitch mark.
Bunker etiquette and maintenance
Our course only has eleven bunkers, but they need to be carefully maintained by golfers so that they remain in good condition, present a reasonable challenge and don't become a major task for the greenkeeping staff.
This USGA clip gives a useful account of what to do if you go in a bunker.
NB. Our policy is that rakes should be left inside the bunker.
